Leadership

Scott is currently the Director of Athletics for the White Settlement Independent School District. He served WSISD as Associate Director of Athletics from 2018 - 2022.  He served DeSoto ISD as Asst Athletic Director & Director of Sports Medicine from 1999-2013 and 2015 to 2018. Scott worked for Texas Health Resources from 2013-2015. He holds a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Health Education from Texas A&M University and an MBA  from WGU Texas.  Scott has supported teams in 11 UIL state championships and 10 UIL state runner-ups. Scott is an author and presenter for the Texas High School Athletic Directors Associations’ athletic administrators certification course, and serves on the THSADA TAAC committee.  Scott helped author and implement  HB 2038 which governs how Texas public schools manage concussions. He is a frequent national speaker on topics including  Sickle cell trait and sudden death, GPS and athletic performance, concussion, and program development.  Scott was inducted into the inaugural Texas State Athletic Trainers Association Hall of Honor.   Scott has been awarded the John Harvey Humanitarian Award, the James Dodson New Horizon Award, and the Eddie Wojecki Award by the Southwest Athletic Trainers Association. In 2023 Scott was inducted into the SWATA Hall of Fame.  He currently serves as the District 6 Director for the NATA.  

Josh Richards, serves WSISD as the Girls' Athletic Coordinator and Head Softball Coach. Coach Richards has spent the past 4 years at Brewer as a US History teacher and volleyball and softball coach. Previously, he led successful softball programs at Nolan Catholic and Cedar Hill High Schools, while also briefly serving as an Interim Athletic Director at Nolan Catholic. Coach Richards has a tremendous passion for building positive relationships with his students, athletes, colleagues and the WSISD community.  He, his wife Kalan, and son Davis are looking forward to the incredible things ahead for Brewer Bear Athletics!  

Jason is Currently the Head football coach and Boys athletic coordinator at Brewer High School. Coach Wheeler was previously the associate head coach at Brewer High school from 2018 to 2022. Coach Wheeler was on the 2016 State Championship staff at DeSoto. Prior to his 8 years at DeSoto Coach Wheeler was a part of successful program building staffs at Norman, Bridge Creek and Little Axe High Schools in Oklahoma. Coach wheeler and his wife Kristi have been married for 19 years and have 2 daughters Jaycee, who is a Senior at Brewer High School and Kristalyn, who is an 8^th grader at Brewer Middle School.
