10 BHS students win laptops in perfect attendance drawing
Desiree Coyle

BHS students will have the opportunity to win laptops and more as part of new, school-wide incentives.

AT&T and Compudopt donated 65 refurbished laptops to the White Settlement ISD Education Foundation on Oct. 9. Funded by an AT&T contribution, the computers will be awarded as incentives for Brewer High School students to improve attendance, academic performance, etc. each 9-week grading period.

Ten BHS seniors won laptops via a random perfect attendance drawing. They are: Colton Plemons, Kaleb Price, Triston Alexander, Jonathan Gamez-Galvan, Dayanara Martinez, Devin Harris, Bailea Simon, Emily Mendoza, Brady Midler and Dwayne Sterling.

Also pictured are: State Rep. John McQueeney, District 97; Linda Caram, AT&T External & Legislative Affairs Director; JoAnna Parker-Murry, WSISD Education Foundation President; Frank Molinar, WSISD Superintendent; Amber Munoz, White Settlement Mayor Pro-Tem; Ronda Wright, WSISD Foundation member; Tommy Neal, BHS Principal; and Amy Arnold, White Settlement City Secretary.

The Foundation annually funds thousands in innovative teaching grants, incentive programs, a recognition ceremony for the academic top 25 BHS students, and more. The contribution from AT&T and Compudopt will enable the Foundation to further expand its resources and provide even more learning opportunities for students.

“Having their own personal computer improves student access to the numerous educational tools and economic opportunities found online,” said State Rep. John McQueeney. “This a critical step forward for these students.”
